DIY Custom Monogram Letter
My favorite carnival-inspired font can be yours in the form of a custom monogram you paint yourself!
I will cut out your letter of choice on my scroll saw from 1/4” MDF board, sand it smooth, and it’s ready for paint.
Your letter will be 14” tall (width varies depending on letter) and will come in 3 parts: the top of the letter, the bottom of the letter, and the backer board. A sawtooth hanger will come attached to the backer board so that it is ready to hang when you have finished painting. It is up to you to adhere the pieces of your letter together after painting.
See photo for example of how to paint letters.
Tools required:
-paint
-brushes
-glue (any strong glue will do)
*I recommend using latex house paint. My go-to is Behr brand from Home Depot. Their sample pots are inexpensive and can be tinted to any color in a beautiful satin finish. Acrylic craft paints will also work. However, the nature of MDF is that it is very porous. Without a primer coat, several layers of color will likely be needed with acrylic craft paint.
